The Detroit Lions' best start to a season came back in 2011, when the franchise jumped out to a 5-0 record. Detroit rattled off victories against Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Minnesota (overtime), Dallas, and Chicago before losing to San Francisco during Week 6.
The Lions finished 10-6 and lost in the wild-card round to New Orleans.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford led the way, throwing for 5,038 yards and 41 touchdowns, and wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught 96 passes for 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns during this season.
The Lions would start 5-0 three other times, but during the pre-Super Bowl era (1956, 1934, 1931).
