Denver was able to get back on track with a win at Detroit on Thursday, and it will try to build on that victory when it faces New York on Saturday afternoon. The Nuggets had lost four straight games before their 119-100 win over the Pistons. New York has bounced back from a three-game skid with wins over the Lakers and Trail Blazers.
Denver had been red-hot for virtually the entire season prior to its recent skid. The Nuggets had won eight out of nine games before losing four straight games against the Bulls, Spurs, Nets and Raptors earlier this month. They were favored in all four of those setbacks and by at least nine points in three of them. Denver finally got back on track with a 119-100 win against Detroit on Thursday night, covering the 15-point spread in the process. The Nuggets shot 52.8% from the floor, but the game still went under the total of 230.5. They are 4.5-games ahead of Sacramento for the top seed in the Western Conference.

Denver officially clinched a playoff spot with its win at Detroit on Thursday, and it is 12 games away from winning the conference for the first time in franchise history. The Nuggets held Detroit to 36 points in the second half just two days after allowing Toronto to score 49 points in the first quarter. They had allowed 123 points per game during their skid. Denver is now trying to rectify its home-road split, as it is 30-6 at home and just 17-7 on the road. Nikola Jokic leads the Nuggets with 24.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 10 assists per game, putting him on pace to win his third straight MVP. Denver ranks seventh in the NBA in scoring (116.9) and is facing a New York defense that is No. 8 (112.3).
