Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-21-2022

Denver Nuggets (0-1) vs. Golden State Warriors (1-0)

The 2022-23 NBA season goes on with a loaded 11-game Friday card and brings the Western Conference showdown from Chase Center in San Francisco, California, where the Denver Nuggets take on the reigning NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors.

It’s a rematch of the 2022 first-round playoffs, and the Warriors look to extend their dominance over the Nuggets. Golden State opens as a 5-point home fave, while the totals sit at 229.5 points.

The Denver Nuggets visited the rebuilding Utah Jazz at the start of the 2022-23 season. Playing as firm 7-point favorites, the Nuggets suffered an ugly 123-102 defeat. It was a disastrous defensive performance, as Utah shot 50.6% from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc while handing out 27 assists. On the other side, the Nuggets made 48.2% of their field goals and just 22.7% of their 3-pointers, finishing with 21 assists and a whopping 21 turnovers.

“In that first half, the Jazz outworked us and I think to a man everyone in our locker room would agree,” Denver coach Mike Malone said. “We looked like a different team, felt like a different team in the second half. But in this league, you can’t pick and choose when you play.”

After missing the entire 2021-22 season due to a knee injury, Jamal Murray accounted for 12 points and a couple of steals in his return to the floor. Nikola Jokic had 27 points and six assists, while Aaron Gordon posted a double-double of 22 points and ten rebounds. Michael Porter Jr. notched 15 points and seven boards, and the Nuggets’ second unit added just 24 points on 8-for-23 shooting from the field.
