Davidson vs. George Mason Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-14-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Wildcard Edition

Davidson will try to snap its two-game losing streak when it travels to George Mason on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats have lost seven of their last 10 games, including a 61-57 setback against Richmond on Wednesday. George Mason has lost two of its last three games, falling to Saint Louis its last time out.

Davidson got off to a strong start this season, winning six of its first seven games, including wins over South Carolina and San Francisco. The Wildcats have not been able to maintain that level since the end of November, losing seven of their last 10 games. They put together some quality performances in some of those losses, including an eight-point loss to then-No. 1 Purdue on Dec. 17. Davidson opened conference play with a win against Fordham on Dec. 28 before losing three of its next four games. The Wildcats came up short in a 61-57 loss to Richmond on Wednesday despite being 2.5-point favorites.

They have been an erratic offensive team this season, shooting well from 2-point range (52.3) and the charity stripe (73.4), but they are knocking down just 30.2% of their 3-pointers (No. 316 nationally). Davidson has also done a good job of limiting turnovers. However, it has struggled on the offensive glass, ranked No. 310 in offensive rebounding rate. The Wildcats are facing a George Mason defense that is No. 95 in adjusted efficiency. Senior guard Foster Loyer leads Davidson with 16.1 points, 4.9 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. Junior forward Sam Mennenga is adding 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds.
