The Dallas Stars face the New Jersey Devils with both teams off to great starts to the season. The Stars have a 16-8-5 record and are near the top of the Central Division while the Devils have a 21-5-2 record and are in first place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams are looking to remain near the top of their conferences and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Stars are having a great season with their offense leading the way and scoring 3.75 goals per game. Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz have scored 34 goals and 40 assists to lead the top line but the entire offense has stepped up. Joe Pavelski, Jamie Benn, and Tyler Seguin have combined for 26 goals and 51 assists while defenseman Miro Heiskanen has added five goals and 17 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.82 goals per game. Colin Miller and Esa Lindell have combined for 3.8 defensive point shares and 68 blocked shots while Jani Hakanpaa, Miro Heiskanen, and Nils Lundkvist have combined for 3.8 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. With the team playing the second game of a back-to-back, the hope is that backup goaltender Scott Wedgewood can step up as he has a .908 save percentage and a 3.0 4 goals-against average on 314 shots.
