Against Nashville Friday night, Dallas welcomed back Jake Oettinger between the pipes but he was rusty, which proved costly in the loss. The Stars held a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period with neither team scoring, keeping things scoreless after 20 minutes. In the second period, Dallas was outshot 15-7 and was outscored 2-0 to trail by that margin at the second intermission. The third period saw the Stars outshot 17-8 and outscored 4-3 to wind up with the loss. Jani Hakanpaa got Dallas on the board with his second goal of the season at 1:09 off assists from Matt Duchene and Tyler Seguin. After giving up a goal to trail 3-1, Wyatt Johnson got the Stars within a goal again with his 11th of the year at 8:11 off assists from Nils Lundkvist and Thomas Harley. Nashville re-extended to a two-goal advantage before Duchene made it a 4-3 game with his 13th goal of the year, on the power play at 13:36 with assists going to Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski. That was as close as Dallas would get as they surrendered a pair of empty-net goals to close the scoring. Oettinger made 32 saves for the Stars, who were outshot 38-22, in the loss. Scott Wedgewood likely gets the start between the pipes here.
