The 2023-24 NBA season continues on New Year’s Day, with a busy eight-game slate including this Western Conference showdown at Delta Center at Salt Lake City, Utah, so here’s the best Mavericks vs. Jazz pick.

This is the second meeting of the season between the teams. Dallas won the first match at home on December 6, 147-97. The Mavericks were 11.5-point favorites and the total was set at 235.5. The Mavericks are the favorites here as well (3.5). Dallas has three players who are game-time decisions, SG Seth Curry, PG Kyrie Irving, and PF Maxi Kleber. Utah has not injuries for this game.

Nobody does it better when it comes to NBA picks!

The Dallas Mavericks (19-14, 18-15-0 ATS) broke a two-game losing streak, defeating the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, 132-122. That was the second contest during this three-game road trip with the journey ending in Utah. Dallas is 11-7 (12-6-0 ATS) on the road.

Dallas used a 12-point first-quarter advantage to send them to victory. The Mavericks had just nine healthy bodies but saw six players score in double-digits, including three off the bench. The team went to the free-throw just 13 times, down from the 23.5 they have averaged per game this season. They are 27th in free-throw percentage this season (75.7%).

“It was a great team win,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “It's hard to win in this building. … Great group win, defensively and the offensively.”

Luka Doncic just missed a triple-double, recording 39 points, 10 assists, and 8 boards. He hit 14 of 29 shots. Doncic has scored 39 points or more in four straight games, including 50 points against Phoenix on December 25, adding 15 assists. Doncic is having an MVP-type season, averaging 33.9 points, 9.3 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game.

This is a Mavericks team that does not shoot well, 18th in field goal percentage (47.2%) and 15th in three-point shooting (36.8%). Dallas is 21st in opponent field goal percentage (48.3%) and 17th in opponent three-point shooting (37.2%).
