The Dallas Mavericks open the 2022-2023 regular season in Phoenix, AZ for a playoff rematch against the Phoenix Suns. Dallas comes into the regular season after a 14 point win over the Utah Jazz in the final game of the preseason. Offensively Dallas shot the ball extremely well making 44.7% of their shots and 36.2% from beyond the arc to score 115 points in the victory.
Potential MVP candidate Luka Doncic looked to be in mid season form leading the Dallas offense with 24 points on 9 of 18 shooting and 30 minutes on the floor. Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in 11 points on nine shots as the only other starter in double figures and Tim Hardaway Jr. led the way off the bench with 20 points in 25 minutes.
The Phoenix Suns open the regular season at home after losing four of the final five preseason games including two in a row after a one point loss to the Sacramento Kings. Offensively Phoenix was abysmal scoring only 104 points including 19 in the third quarter after shooting 41.8% from the floor and turning the ball over 26 times in the game.
