Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-8-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas

The Dallas Cowboys (12-4, 9-6-1 ATS, 8-7 O/U) battle the Washington Commanders (7-8-1, 7-8-1 ATS, 5-10 O/U) in a divisional clash on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys posted a road win against the Titans last week. The Commanders were dealt a costly home loss by the Browns in their previous game. Dallas collected a 25-10 win in the first meeting.

The Dallas Cowboys have a chance to win the division. They are one game back of the Eagles heading into the final game but hold the tiebreaker. A win and an Eagles loss means Dallas wins the division. The Cowboys have rebounded from an overtime road loss to the Jaguars by defeating the Eagles 40-34 two weeks ago and were 14-point favorites in a 27-13 road win against the Titans last week. The Cowboys have covered the spread in one out of their last three games.

Dak Prescott continues to shine, collecting at least 250 passing yards in four consecutive games. The 29-year-old QB injured his knee last week and while listed as questionable, is expected to play. Prescott has accrued 2732 passing yards and a 22:14 TD to INT ratio.

Tony Pollard did not play last week and is questio nable with a thigh injury. The 25-year-old RB has been sharing the duties with Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard has 988 rushing yards. Elliot has yet to reach 100 rushing yards in a game this season and has posted 866 rushing yards. CeeDee Lamb has eclipsed 100 receiving yards in three straight games. The star WR now has 1307 receiving yards. The Dallas offense has surpassed 30 points in two out of their last three games including 40 against the Eagles.

The Cowboys defense hasn’t been quite as effective recently. The unit allowed 40 against the Jaguars earlier this month and 34 against the Eagles. They were better last week, holding the Titans to only 317 total yards. The pass defense is ninth while the rush defense is 22nd. Dallas is scoring an average of 28.8 points, good for second. They are allowing an average of 19.8 points, placing them sixth in the NFL.
