Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-22-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Divisional Round

The Dallas Cowboys (12-5, 4-4 Away) will travel to Santa Clara, CA to take on the San Francisco 49ers (13-4, 8-1 Home) for the NFC Divisional Playoffs at Levi's Stadium. The Cowboys are coming off a crushing victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the 49ers are coming off a dominant win over the Seattle Seahawks.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a surprisingly dominant victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where they knocked Tom Brady out of the post-season endeavors. During the victory, the Cowboys earned 425 total yards with 297 yards being through the air and 128 yards being on the ground. Dak Prescott threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the dominant outing. Defensively, Dallas surrendered 334 passing yards and just 52 rushing yards. Prescott's strong performance allowed his team to advance further into the post-season, however, he will face his toughest opponent yet, the 49ers' defense. The Cowboys have two key defenders questionable with DeMarcus Lawrence (43 SOLO, 6 SACK, 3 FF) and Jayron Kearse (55 SOLO, 1 FF, 1 INT, 5 PD) being injured.

This will be a particular contest considering the Cowboys haven't faced the 49ers this season, meaning Prescott hasn't faced the intimidating and unbreakable 49ers' defense. If he and the Cowboys want to exit the game with a win then they will need to get the ball out quickly. Prescott will have big defenders pressuring him in the pocket but also have elite ball hawks watching him in the secondary. This season, the passing game is averaging 230.1 yards per game while the rushing game is averaging 135.2 yards per contest. With this said, the cowboys can also lean on Tony Pollard who rushed for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns in the regular season. In the post-season, he has rushed for 77 yards. Dalton Shultz has been the go-to guy downfield in the postseason as he has recorded 95 yards and two touchdowns in eight targets.
