The Dallas Cowboys travel to Miami on Sunday to take on the Dolphins in what could be a Super Bowl preview. The Cowboys and Dolphins are both 10-4 heading into this game but are coming off very different outcomes in week 14. The Cowboys were throttled by the Bills in Buffalo last week while the Dolphins blanked the Jets at home in week 14. The opening kick for this titanic clash is scheduled for 4:25 PM EST.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy certainly knows what he wants for the holidays as his team prepares to take on the Dolphins in Miami on Christmas Eve: a significant road victory. The Cowboys are a perfect 7-0 at home and have looked like a team very capable of representing the NFC in the Super Bowl this season. On the road, however, the Cowboys have been a different story with a record of just 3-4 including last week's 31-10 loss at Buffalo. The Cowboys clinched a playoff spot before the game thanks to losses by both Green Bay and Atlanta but certainly didn't play like a playoff team on Sunday. The Cowboys had just 14 first downs in the game and didn't score a touchdown until the game's final three minutes. Quarterback Dak Prescott, who was an MVP favorite heading into the game, went just 21-of-34 for 134 yards and an interception. Much of his production came in the final drive when the Cowboys converted six of their 14 first downs for the game.

“It’s a gap. That’s part of my message. We play so well at home, and there’s just too big of a gap in our road games,” McCarthy said. “We are conscious of it. We have a long flight home to continue to talk about, think about (it).”

The Cowboys remain a tale of two teams: the road Cowboys vs. the home Cowboys. With that in mind, the team's overall numbers are a bit skewed. At home, they have outscored the opposition 279-108 while on the road, they have been outscored 156-152. They have the league's #1 point differential at +167, ahead of Miami's +147, but its time they put up numbers on the road. Overall, the Cowboys are second in the NFL in points per game but drop to 7th in the last month. They are sixth in total offense but just 15th in the last month of the season. The Cowboys have been middle-of-the-pack rushing the football all year, ranked 14th in the league while they are sixth through the air. Defensively, the Cowboys are ranked fifth in the NFL in points allowed per game but that number drops to 25th in the last month. They are 18th against the run and fourth against the pass although even their pass defense has struggled over the last month ranking just 14th. The Cowboys have done an excellent job protecting the football all season, ranked first in the league. They are 12th in takeaways this season.

Key Injuries: TE S. McKeon (ankle) is out. OT M. Waletzko (shoulder), DE V. Fehoko (knee), DT J. Hankins (foot), S M. Hooker (ankle), and OG Z. Martin (quad) are questionable.
