No. 4 seed UConn will try to continue its dominant run through the NCAA Tournament when it faces No. 3 seed Gonzaga in the Elite Eight on Saturday night. The Huskies have won all three of their games by 15-plus points, cruising to an 88-65 win over No. 8 seed Arkansas on Thursday. Gonzaga advanced to the Elite Eight with a thrilling 79-76 win over No. 2 seed UCLA, drilling a late 3-pointer to get past the Bruins after blowing a 10-point lead in the final three minutes.
UConn turned heads early in the season when it raced out to a 14-0 record, beating Alabama, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Florida during that stretch. The Huskies fell into a shocking slump after that, losing six of their next eight games. They put together a strong finish to the regular season, winning eight of their final nine contests. UConn lost to Marquette by two points in the Big East Tournament semifinals. The Huskies responded with blowout wins over No. 13 seed Iona and No. 5 seed Saint Mary’s during the first weekend of March Madness before blowing out Arkansas in a stunning performance on Thursday.

They used a 14-0 run to take a 46-29 lead into halftime against the Razorbacks, never trailing and leading by as many as 29 points. UConn shot 57.4% from the floor and held Arkansas to a 31.7% clip. Junior forward Adam Sanogo scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Huskies outrebounded the Razorbacks 43-31 and outscored them 42-24 in the paint. Sanogo has now scored 71 points in 75 minutes this tournament. The Huskies are a perfect 15-0 in non-conference games, winning all of them by double digits. They made 9 of 20 3-pointers and had 22 assists against Arkansas. UConn ranks third in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency ratings and second in offensive rebounding percentage.
