One of the top college basketball games of the day will take place at CHI Health Center Omaha on Saturday afternoon between No. 23 Creighton and No. 21 UConn. The Huskies have bounced back from a rough stretch with a three-game winning streak, strengthening their NCAA Tournament resume. Creighton is one of the hottest teams in the country, riding a seven-game winning streak coming into this matchup.
While the metrics have never strayed too far on its stance regarding UConn, the Huskies have been a tough team for most experts to get a read on. They raced out to a 14-0 record this season and looked like the clear favorites to win the Big East, but they proceeded to lose six of their following eight games to fall one game under .500 in the conference. UConn has been able to get back on track since then, picking up consecutive wins over DePaul, Georgetown and No. 10 Marquette in its last three games. The Huskies had lost to Marquette by six points last month, so their 87-72 win on Tuesday was certainly a statement performance.

They needed less than eight minutes to build a 22-6 lead, and they never relinquished that advantage in the win. Jordan Hawkins knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points, leading the team in scoring for the fourth time in five games. Adama Sanogo added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Tristen Newton posted his second triple-double of the season with 12 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. UConn notched a 69-60 win at home when these teams met in early January, which was its lone win during that six-game stretch. The Huskies are the No. 8 offense in KenPom’s ratings, sitting at fifth in offensive rebounding percentage. They are facing a Creighton defense that is No. 13 in adjusted efficiency and No. 11 in rebounding.
