No. 3 UConn will be looking to build on its perfect start to the season when it travels to Butler on Saturday night. The Huskies have won all 11 of their games, including a 114-61 blowout against Long Island last Saturday. Butler is riding a four-game winning streak after beating California in an 82-58 decision last Saturday.

UConn has not been ranked this high since March 2009 when Jim Calhoun’s team lost to Michigan State in the Final Four. Current head coach Dan Hurley’s team has gone 11-0 to open this season, with all 11 wins coming by double figures. The Huskies have only faced one ranked team, breezing past then-No. 18 Alabama in an 82-67 final at the end of November. They have since added wins over Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Florida and Long Island, cruising to a 114-61 win over the Sharks last Saturday. This will be the Huskies’ Big East opener before they host Georgetown and Villanova in their next two games.

The Huskies are led by preseason Big East Player of the Year Adama Sanogo, who is averaging 18.3 points and 6.6 rebounds despite playing just 24.1 minutes per game. They have been able to utilize their bench early in the season since almost all of their wins have come in blowout fashion. Freshman Donovan Clingan is scoring 10.5 points and grabbing 6.9 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game as Sanogo’s backup. The Huskies have the seventh-best effective field goal percentage (57.5) in college basketball, and they are shooting 58.4% from 2-point range. They are facing a Butler defense that is No. 71 in defensive field goal percentage (46.8).
