Connecticut at Providence – 1/4/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The UConn Huskies and Providence Friars face off on Wednesday in a college basketball showdown at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. This is a huge Big East team with both teams dreaming of winning the conference. 

UConn comes into this game with a 14-1 record overall and they have gone 11-3-1 against the spread. UConn has had a strong start to the season, but they are coming off a loss in their last game. UConn’s defense gave up 83 points to Xavier and that led to the defeat. UConn’s offense was led by Adam Sanogo who finished with 18 points and six rebounds. UConn is averaging 82.3 points while their defense is giving up 60.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 20th while the defense is ranked 22nd. Sanogo is averaging 17.8 points while shooting 60.7 percent from the field. Overall the defense for this team has been strong, but in the last game they really struggled to defend and they are going to need to be a lot better here with the defense. 

On the other side of this matchup is Providence who sits with a 12-3 record and they have gone 9-6 against the spread. In the last two games, the defense for Providence has been strong. In the last game the defense only gave up 59 points to DePaul. Providence is averaging 80.2 points while their defense is giving up 67.7 points per game. Forward Bryce Hopkins is averaging 15.7 points while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from behind the three point line.
