Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-2-2022

The Columbus Blue Jackets face the Winnipeg Jets with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Blue Jackets have a 7-12-2 record and are in last place in the Metropolitan Division. The Jets have a 14-6-1 record and with three wins in a row are near the top of the Central Division. The Blue Jackets are looking to improve in the Metropolitan Division while the Jets look to remain near the top of the Central Division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Blue Jackets are having an awful season with their offense struggling, scoring only 2.86 goals per game with only five goals in the last three games. Johnny Gaudreau, Boone Jenner, and Kent Johnson have scored 22 goals and 26 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have scored five goals or more while only five skaters have added six assists or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has fallen apart recently but the defense has let the Blue Jacket down, allowing 4.10 goals per game. Vladislav Gavrikov and Erik Gudbranson have combined for 1.3 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has struggled in the net with a .899 save percentage and a 3.75 goals-against avera ge on 276 shots.
