The Blue Jackets are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.71 goals per game with only 19 goals in the last eight games. Boone Jenner, Adam Fantilli, and Kirill Marchenko have scored 15 goals and 12 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five skaters have four goals or more and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.
The offense has been awful but the defense has also let them down, allowing 3.53 goals per game including 28 goals in the last seven games. Damon Severson and Zach Werenski have combined for 1.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Spencer Martin has struggled with a .905 save percentage and a 3.26 goals-against average on 210 shots.
