The Blue Jackets are having a season to forget with their offense playing poorly, scoring only 2.96 goals per game. Johnny Gaudreau, Adam Fantilli, and Kirill Marchenko have scored 32 goals and 46 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six skaters have nine goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been a mess, allowing 3.73 goals per game including 23 goals in the last five games. Ivan Provorov and David Jiricek have combined for 2.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has been awful, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Daniil Tarasov has struggled with a .875 save percentage and a 4.09 goals-against average on 265 shots with -7.4 goals saved above average.
