The Columbus Blue Jackets face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Blue Jackets have an 11-18-7 record and have the worst record in the Metropolitan Division while the Sabres have a 14-18-4 record and have the second-worst record in the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to climb out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Blue Jackets are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.08 goals per game. Johnny Gaudreau, Kirill Marchenko, and Adam Fantilli have scored 28 goals and 36 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Dmitri Voronkov, Yegor Chinakhov, and Justin Danforth have combined for 25 goals and 24 assists while defensemen Zach Werenski and Ivan Provorov have added three goals and 41 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.64 goals per game. Zach Werenski and David Jiricek have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. Additionally, Daniil Tarasov has struggled with a .852 save percentage and a 4.39 goals-against average on 88 shots.
