The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders face off on Thursday in a college basketball showdown at UBS Arena. When these two teams faced off on November 25th it was the Islanders that secured the 3-2 victory.
Columbus comes into this game with a 10-21-2 record overall and they have gone 2-10-1 away from home. Last Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks the defense really struggled giving up five goals and that led to the defeat. Marcus Bjork scored one goal and added another assist. On the other side of this matchup is the Islanders who sit with a 20-14-2 record overall and they have gone 11-6-0 at home. In the last game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Islanders scored five goals and that was enough to secure the four-goal victory. Anders Lee and Mathew Barzal each scored two goals. The Islanders are averaging 3.25 goals while their defense is giving up 2.69 goals per game. The defense is ranked 6th best in the NHL. Brock Nelson has scored 15 goals and added 21 assists so far this season.
