Colorado State Rams (8-7) vs. Nevada Wolf Pack (12-3)

The 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball season continues Wednesday, January 4, with the Colorado State Rams taking on the Nevada Wolf Pack in the Mountain West Conference battle at Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada.

The tip-off is set for 10:30 PM ET. The Rams search for their third straight victory over the Wolf Pack and open as 5.5-point road underdogs. The totals are listed at 142.0 points, so let’s take a closer look.

Since upsetting Saint Mary’s 62-60 as 11.5-point road underdogs on December 18, the Colorado State Rams (8-7; 5-9 ATS; 0-2 conf.) have lost three straight contests to USC 73-64, No. 22 New Mexico 88-69, and San Jose State 78-70. Last Saturday, the Rams disappointed their home fans, suffering an eight-point loss as firm nine-point favorites. They blew a 14-point lead and allowed the Spartans to score 45 points in the second half.

The Rams made 40.0% of their field goals against San Jose State and posted a terrific 20/2 assist-to-turnover ratio. However, they allowed 11 offensive rebounds and 13 triples. Senior guard Isaiah Stevens double-doubled with 24 points and ten assists, while junior forward Patrick Cartier had 12 points and a couple of rebounds and assists.

CSU is No. 109 in both NCAA NET Rankings and KenPom rankings. The Rams score 107.6 points per 100 possessions (68th in the nation) and surrender 102.3 points in return (177th). They make 57.7% of their 2-pointers (18th) and 36.7% of their 3-pointers (69th), but the Rams allow 9.6 triples per game (350th) on a 38.1 percentage clip (349th). Keep your eyes on Isaiah Stevens, who’s tallying 18.0 points and 6.5 assists per game.
