Colorado Rockies (65-89) vs. San Francisco Giants (76-78)

The Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants close down their 19-game regular-season series with a three-game set finale at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Thursday night, and the first pitch is set at 9:45 PM ET.

Wednesday’s Game 18 has been excluded from the analysis, while the Giants have won 12 of their first 17 meetings with the Rockies in 2022 including a 5-2 victory in Game 17 this past Tuesday. San Francisco is a strong -210 moneyline fave for the closer, and the totals sit at 7.5 runs.

The Colorado Rockies fell to the NL West-worst 65-89 following Tuesday’s defeat at Oracle Park. It was their third consecutive loss and seventh in eight games, as the Rockies had another awful day at the plate. Colorado is slashing an underwhelming .228/.301/.386 in September, while the Rockies’ pitching staff has recorded a pedestrian 5.24 ERA and 1.38 WHIP so far this month.

The Rockies miss almost the entire infield, as Kris Bryant, Jose Iglesias, and Brendan Rodgers are all on the injury list. Ryan McMahon has led the way for Colorado’s offense as of late, hitting six home runs in his last 79 at-bats, while C.J. Cron has five dingers in his previous 72 at-bats.

Ryan Feltner will take the hill Thursday in San Francisco and face the Giants for the second time this season. The 26-year-old right-hander tossed six innings of a one-run, two-hit ball in a no-decision against the Giants on August 20. Since then, he’s recorded a poor 5.97 ERA in six starts and 28.2 innings of work. Feltner is 3-8 with a 5.91 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 75/30 K/BB ratio in 17 starts and one relief appearance (85.1 innings pitched) in 2022.
