Colorado Rockies vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-27-2022

The New York Mets will host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday in the third game of their four-game series. The Mets took the opening game 3-1 on Thursday, led by the arm of Jacob de Grom. Friday's game between Chris Bassit of the Mets and Chad Kuhl of the Rockies will still underway at the time of this preview.

The Rockies decided not to make any major deals at the trade deadline almost a month ago and are a team whose direction puzzles me. For the past two seasons, it's been a similar story for the Rockies. Good team with a prolific offense at home, a terrible team that struggles to score runs on the road. In the second half of the season, Colorado has lost 22 of 33 games and sits dead-last in the NL West. On the road the Rockies are averaging just 3.1 runs per game this season, only Detroit is worst. They are also the second worst team in runs allowed on the road at 5.3, ahead of only Washington.

On Saturday, the Rockies will start Kyle Freeland, who has been with the club since he broke into the big leagues in 2017. Freeland has a 47-48 career record and a 4.32 ERA. This season, he has a 7-8 record and 4.93 ERA in 24 starts. Freeland has been better on the road, with a 3.63 ERA but a 3-4 record. He has struggled with a 6.45 ERA in four August starts.
