Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 6-19-2023

The Colorado Rockies (29-44, 5th NL West) are on the road Monday to play the first game of a three-game series and the eighth game of a 10-game road trip when paying a visit to the red-hot Cincinnati Reds (36-35, 2nd NL Central). Colorado lost to the Atlanta Braves 10-2 on Saturday and has lost four straight and 10 of the last 13. Cincinnati defeated the Houston Astros 10-3 for their seventh straight win and 10th in the last 12. The Reds are within a half-game of first place in the National League Central. Colorado will play without five pitchers as well as position players Brendan Rodgers, C.J. Cron, Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon. Cincinnati will play without nine pitchers as well as position players Joey Votto and Wil Myers.

Colorado is playing without C.J. Cron, Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon and Brendan Rodgers all of whom have been very productive at the plate over the last few seasons for Colorado. Colorado is 12th in team batting average at .255 and has scored the 14th most runs with 318. Colorado's slugging percentage is 16th at .398. Ryan McMahon has team highs in home runs with 10 and RBIs with 38. Elias Diaz is second in home runs with seven and in RBIs with 34. Between the three top injured players, the Rockies are missing 26 home runs and 63 RBIs.

 

Colorado is also struggling on the mound with the next to last team ERA at 5.32 and the next to last WHIP at 1.51. Colorado’s starting rotation has 17 Quality Starts which is 26th and the Rockies pitching staff is last in batting average allowed at .276. Kyle Freeland is the le ader in strikeouts for Colorado with 50. Colorado will hand the ball to Austin Gomber on Monday. This season the left-hander is 4-6 with an ERA of 7.29 and 44 strikeouts.
