Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-31-2023

Colorado Rockies (24-31) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (31-23)

The MLB betting action goes on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, with the Colorado Rockies taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West showdown at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, and the first pitch is set for 9:40 PM ET.

Colorado and Arizona lock horns in the third of a four-game series at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks outlasted the Rockies 7-5 in Monday’s opener, while Tuesday night’s game has been excluded from this preview.

The Colorado Rockies entered the Diamondbacks series searching for their third straight victory. Last Sunday, the Rocks prevailed over the New York Mets 11-10 to clinch a three-game set and finish a seven-game homestand with a 5-2 record.

Colorado took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning last Monday but immediately gave up five runs to the Diamondbacks, who scored all seven runs through the first four frames. The Rockies outhit Arizona 13-11, and Ryan McMahon homered for the fourth straight game, but it wasn’t enough. It was the fourth straight defeat on the road for the Rockies, who are slashing and excellent .318/.386/.536 with eight home runs and 19 extra-base hits in the last seven days and 211 at-bats.

Connor Seabold is projected to take the mound Wednesday in Arizona. The 27-year-old right-hander is 1-2 with a poor 5.94 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 27/13 K/BB ratio in five starts and seven relief appearances (36.1 innings pitched) this season. Seabold has been pretty much awful since getting the place in Colorado’s injury-depleted rotation. He’s allowed a staggering 15 runs (12 earned) on 17 hits and seven walks over his previous three outings and 12.2 innings of work.
