Colorado Avalanche (2-0-0) vs. Seattle Kraken (0-2-1)

The 2023-24 NHL season goes on Tuesday, October 17, with the Colorado Avalanche facing off against the Seattle Kraken in the Western Conference showdown at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, and the puck drop is set for 10:00 PM ET.

Colorado and Seattle open a three-game regular-season series. The Avalanche are listed as -138 moneyline favorites, while the Kraken are +123 home underdogs with a total of 6.5 goals.

The Colorado Avalanche aim for their third win on the spin. Back in Week 1, the Avs defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 as -125 road favorites and the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in a shootout as massive -300 road favorites.

Last Wednesday, the Avalanche outshot the Kings 37-36 and fully deserved to win. Mikko Rantanen led the charge with a couple of goals and assists, while Nathan MacKinnon added one goal and two dishes. Three days later, the Avs barely satisfied the odds at SAP Center at San Jose despite outshooting the Sharks 52-21 in the process.

Alexander Georgiev is expected to guard the cage Tuesday in Seattle. The 27-year-old netminder yielded two goals on 36 shots in a comfortable victory over the Kings while turning 20 of 21 shots aside in that narrow win at the Sharks. He stopped all three attempts in a shootout. If the Avs decide to give Georgiev a day off, Justus Annunen will start between the pipes. Annunen is 2-1-1 with a 3.92 GAA and a .859 save percentage in four career appearances in the NHL.
