The Colorado Avalanche face the Florida Panthers with both teams looking to improve on promising seasons. The Avalanche have a 27-19-4 record and with seven wins in their last 10 games have leaped into third place in the Central Division. The Panthers have a 26-22-6 record and with a three-game winning streak have leaped into the middle of the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to make up ground in their divisions and the playoff picture and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Avalanche are having a great season but hope the offense can improve, scoring only 2.96 goals per game. Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, and Artturi Lehkonen have scored 63 goals and 87 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Evan Rodrigues and Alex Newhook can step up as they play a pivotal role in the forward unit but have only scored 23 goals and 23 assists on the season thus far.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been great, allowing only 2.76 goals per game. Cale Makar and Devon Toews 7.1 defensive points shares and 146 blocked shots while Erik Johnson and Samuel Girard have combined for 4.1 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Alexandar Georgiev has been great with a .917 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average on 1115 shots with 12.0 goals saved above average.
