The Colorado Avalanche face the Calgary Flames with both teams looking to build off of promising seasons. The Avalanche have a 22-17-3 record and have won back-to-back games while the Flames have a 21-15-9 record and are in the middle of the Pacific Division. Both teams are looking to improve in the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Avalanche are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.05 goals per game. Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, and Artturi Lehkonen have scored 54 goals and 76 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. J.T. Compher, Evan Rodrigues, and Valeri Nichushkin have combined for 26 goals and 40 assists while defensemen Cale Makar and Devon Toews have added 16 goals and 50 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has carried the Avalanche, allowing only 2.83 goals per game including only three goals in the last two games. Cale Makar and Devon Toews have combined for 6.2 defensive point shares and 127 blocked shots while Erik Johnson, Josh Manson, and Samuel Girard have combined for 3.9 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Alexandar Georgiev has been great in the net with a .915 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average on 952 shots.
