Dan Karpuc: Purdue +3.5 vs. Penn State
Under Jeff Brohm, Purdue has gone 19-8 ATS as an underdog and the Boilermakers will return 14 starters from their team that went 9-4 last year. That includes sixth-year quarterback Aidan O'Connell, who threw for 534 yards against Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, surpassed 370 passing yards in five different starts and amassed 21 touchdowns compared to only three interceptions in his last six starts. This game will be played in front of a “blackout-themed” crowd at Purdue on national television and I certainly see that home-field advantage coming into play in Week 1. Not only that, but the cover-zero, high-pressured defense that the Boilermakers are expected to feature once again could put Penn State's offense in some tough spots in this particular situation. Give me Purdue to cover +3.5 and I also don't hate their moneyline.
