For years, the College Football landscape was essentially decided by a computer with the BCS Championship. That changed in 2014 when the sport moved to a 4-team playoff decided by a committee of people. However, the debates continued as teams felt like they were unfairly left out of a playoff spot.

That's all about to change. After much debate, the College Football Playoff's board announced on Thursday that the Playoff will be expanded to 12 teams, beginning in 2024.
This always seemed like the eventual outcome. Maybe not 12 teams, but at least eight teams. Four teams just weren't enough, leaving too many possible title contenders on the outside looking in.
With 12 teams, the field becomes much larger and that debate no longer exists. More teams will get a chance to prove they have what it takes to win it all. If you can't finish the regular seas on in the top 12, you probably don't deserve to make it.
The regular season in college football is incredibly valuable and exciting. Every game means something because it could make or break your season. Devaluing that by expanding the schedule would have been a mistake.
