Tennessee Volunteers -12.5 (+142) over Auburn Tigers
The oddsmakers opened this game with Tennessee favored in the single digits, but that's not enough. It's mostly because of their excellent defense, which has them ranked as the best defensive team in all of college basketball. Immediately, that will pose a problem for Auburn's offense. This is also an excellent spot to back the Vols as they will be trying to avenge their 13-point loss to Florida on the road in their previous game. Because Auburn shoots just 29.9 percent from beyond the arc, which ranks 335th in the nation, its offense must score points inside the arc. However, they may not have much luck against Tennessee’s interior defense since the Vols rank 15th nationwide in field goal percentage defense at the rim, according to Hoop-Math. Tennessee should be able to limit Auburn enough on the offensive end of the floor to be able to cover this double-digit alternate spread.
