The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2-3, 3-2 ATS, 1-4 O/U) battle the Appalachian State Mountaineers (3-2, 2-2-1 ATS, 4-1 O/U) in a Sun Belt clash on Tuesday evening. The Chanticleers dropped a decision against Georgia Southern in their latest bout. The Mountaineers posted a big road win against UL Monroe in their previous clash. Coastal Carolina posted a 35-28 home win against Appalachian State in November of last season.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are looking to avoid a third straight loss. Coastal Carolina was 2-1 after three games including a loss to UCLA but conference play has brought challenges. The squad has opened conference play with two straight defeats. They lost 30-17 against Georgia State and were marked 6.5 point dogs in a 38-28 road loss to Georgia Southern last week. The Chanticleers have covered the spread in three of their five games on the season.
Grayson McCall had his worst game of the season last week, throwing four picks. The senior QB was dominant in 2022 and while McCall is producing yards, he hasn’t been as sharp this year. He has reached at least 250 passing yards in all but one game and has 1302 passing yards along with a 6:6 TD to INT ratio on the season.
Braydon Bennett has reached 100 rushing yards on one occasion this year. The junior RB has collected 245 rushing yards on an average of five yards per rush. Coastal Carolina has two receivers with over 300 yards led by Sam Pinckney. The senior brought in 132 receiving yards in the loss to Georgia Southern and has 443 receiving yards, while Jared Brown has 314 yards. The Coastal Carolina offense hasn’t been the issue, scoring at least 28 points in three of their last four games.

The Chanticleers' defense was solid in non-conference play but struggled in the conference defeats. They allowed 30 to Georgia State and 38 points on 438 total yards against Georgia Southern. The pass defense struggled last week and is now 74th while the rush defense has been horrible, marking 118th in the country. They have no pass rush, issuing only six sacks.
Coastal Carolina is scoring an average of 30.8 points on the season, ranking them 60th. The defense is conceding an average of 23.6 points, placing them 56th.
