The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians will try again on Tuesday afternoon to play the fifth and deciding game of their ALDS series. Monday's game was postponed because of rain and they will try again Tuesday. The two teams have split games in each of their home parks and now the Yankees own the advantage of having the deciding game in Yankee Stadium. The pitching matchup for the winner-take-all game five will be Aaron Civale (5-6, 4.92) of the Guardians taking on Jameson Taillon (14-5, 3.91). First pitch is scheduled for 4:07pm EST.

The Cleveland Guardians have made a habit out of pulling victory out of the jaws of defeat. So far this series, the only thing standing in their way has been Gerrit Cole. Cole won his second game of the series on Sunday night with a 4-2 win and Cleveland will now have to earn a series win on the road. Cleveland, a team that struck out the least times were 9 innings this season, struck out 11 batters while generating just six hits. Unlike Saturday night, the Guardians offenses stayed quiet in the late innings and will now head to New York with their backs against the ropes.

With the rainout in New York last week, the Guardians rotation was pushed up and the team lost the opportunity to even consider bringing back Shane Bieber on short rest Monday night. He will be unavailable to start on just two days' rest and Manager Terry Francona will turn to righty Aaron Civale. Civale gets the nod thanks to a strong close to the season. In his final two starts, Civale was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 14 strikeouts in two games. Against New York this season, Civale has allowed 12 hits and 10 runs, including three home runs, in just nine innings of work over two starts. The good news, Francona managed his bullpen on Sunday with Monday in mind so the deep Cleveland bullpen is ready to back him.
