The 2022-23 NBA season goes on Thursday, January 12, with the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Portland Trail Blazers in the cross-conference showdown at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. These two foes wrap up their two-game regular-season set, and the Cavs shoot for their fourth consecutive SU and ATS victory over the Trail Blazers.
Cleveland misses Dean Wade (shoulder), while Jarrett Allen (illness) and Ricky Rubio (knee) are questionable to play. On the other side, Portland cannot count on Nassir Little (hip) and Justise Winslow (ankle).
The Cleveland Cavaliers (26-16; 20-19-3 ATS) continue their five-game road trip that started with a 121-108 loss at the Denver Nuggets on January 6. After a 112-98 victory at the Phoenix Suns on January 8, the Cavaliers suffered a tough 116-114 defeat at the Utah Jazz this past Tuesday.
Donovan Mitchell dropped 46 points on his former team, but the Cavs played badly down the stretch. Cleveland forced Utah into 16 turnovers while posting an 18/6 assist-to-turnover ratio, but the Cavs went 10-for-37 from downtown and allowed a thumping 15 offensive rebounds.
“I was really comfortable,” Mitchell said. “It wasn’t weird. It was just like playing as I have here for the last five yea rs. The reception was phenomenal and I’m appreciative of it.”

Cleveland occupies the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers lean on their defense and surrender 109.8 points per 100 possessions (2nd in the NBA) on 51.9% shooting from inside the arc (4th) and 36.7% from beyond the 3-point line (28th). Cleveland scores 114.7 points in return (11th) on 55.3% shooting from inside the arc (also 11th) and 36.3% from downtown (12th).
