Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-14-2022

Cleveland will be looking to bounce back from a loss to San Antonio when it travels to Dallas on Wednesday night. The Cavaliers have lost three of their last five games following their 112-111 setback against the Spurs on Monday. Dallas snapped its two-game losing skid with a 121-114 win over Oklahoma City its last time out.

Cleveland has struggled with consistency issues throughout the season, although it has appeared in different forms. The Cavaliers were extremely streaky early in the year, winning eight consecutive games before losing their next five in a row. They won seven of their next nine games, but they have now lost three of their five games since then. Cleveland’s wins came at home against the Lakers and Thunder, with its three losses coming against the Knicks, Kings and Spurs. The Cavaliers trailed San Antonio by 19 points in the third quarter and rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final 4:30 to give themselves a chance to win.

They had a chance to take the lead down the stretch, but star guard Donovan Mitchell’s shot got blocked and San Antonio held on for a 112-111 win. It was Cleveland’s first loss to a team below the .500 mark this season. The Cavaliers come into this game ranked No. 21 in the NBA offensively, averaging 110.9 points per game. They are facing a Dallas defense that ranks seventh, allowing 110.1 points per contest. Mitchell leads Cleveland with 29.0 points, 4.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. Point guard Darius Garland has been excellent as well, averaging 21.4 points and 7.9 assists. Center Jarrett Allen is averaging a double-double with 14.2 points and 10.5 rebounds.
