The Chick-Fil-A Kickoff will host the Clemson Tigers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in week one of the 2022 season in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Clemson comes into this season ranked #4 in the nation after one of their worst seasons in recent memory a year ago. The Tigers finished the season 10-3 overall following a seven point win over Iowa State in the Cheez-It Bowl. Defensively Clemson controlled the game holding Iowa State to only 270 yards and 13 points.
Offensively Clemson had a good game totaling 315 yards to score 20 points in the game including 14 in the third quarter to pull away for the win. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei led the way for Clemson completing 21 of 32 passes for 187 yards and ran the ball six times for 12 yards as well. Dacari Collins continued to lead the Clemson receivers with 56 yards on six catches. Will Shipley led Clemson with 61 yards and one score on 18 carries and added 53 yards receiving on five catches.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come into the 2022 season after an abysmal nine loss year in 2021. Georgia Tech fell 45-0 in the last game of the year to the eventual national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia Tech was outmatched from the opening kickoff as the Bulldogs scored double digits in three of four quarters on 463 total yards of offense.
