The Cincinnati Bearcats were rolling along with four straight wins, including their opener in AAC play heading into Temple on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Bearcats forgot to bring their shooting shoes, going just 23-of-60 from the field in a 70-61 loss to the Owls. The Bearcats briefly had a lead, building it to 27-20 in the first half, before a 15-0 Temple run silenced any thought of victory. Landers Nolly II led the Bearcats with 15 points. The Cincinnati bench, however, was non-existent with just two points total on the afternoon. Temple dominated the glass as well, out-rebounding Cincinnati 46-28.
“You try not to talk to teams too much after losses right away. It's emotional. We'll look at the tape. We got beat 46-28 on the boards, and we talked about that. Viktor's foul trouble was a factor in the game, and that's an important part. That stretch where they went on the 15-0 run, he's si tting on the bench and you try to put him back in to get yourselves back in the game, and he picks up a third foul late in the half…if you give up 15-0 runs on the road, you're gonna be in a big hole and it'll be harder than it needs to be.” Cincinnati head coach Wes Miller said after the loss.
