Cincinnati vs. East Carolina (ECU) Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-15-2023

East Carolina will play its first game in 11 days when it hosts Cincinnati on Wednesday night. The Pirates were scheduled to face Tulane on Saturday, but that game was postponed following the death of East Carolina announcer Jeff Charles. Cincinnati has won three of its last four games and picked up an 83-55 win over East Carolina last month.

Cincinnati has been flying under the radar this season, with most of its losses coming against quality opponents. The Bearcats lost to Arizona, Ohio State and Xavier in non-conference play, while three of their five conference losses have come against Houston (twice) and Memphis. They crushed East Carolina in the first meeting between these teams, rolling to an 83-55 win on Jan. 11. Cincinnati has won three of its last four games coming into this contest, beating Tulsa, UCF and USF. Its lone loss during that stretch came in overtime at Tulane last Tuesday, but the Bearcats bounced back with an 84-65 win over the Bulls.

They have been a decent offensive team this season, ranked No. 74 of 363 Division I teams in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Their strength on that end of the court has been their low turnover rate, which is thirteenth-best nationally. That can certainly be attributed to having one of the most experienced rosters in college basketball. They will be facing an East Carolina defense that is No. 204 in adjusted efficiency. Senior guard Landers Nolley II leads Cincinnati with 16.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Senior guard David DeJulius is scoring 14.3 points, while sophomore forward Viktor Lakhin is adding 12.5 points and 7.2 boards.
