Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-27-2022

The Cincinnati Reds (60-93, 72-79 RL, 70-76-5 O/U) take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (56-97, 73-78 RL, 67-72-12 O/U) as the division foes resume a three-game series on Tuesday evening, The Reds will have Hunter Greene on the hill. The Pirates will counter with Mitch Keller. The Pirates lead the season series 9-7.

The Reds will give Hunter Greene the nod on Tuesday. Greene was stellar in his latest effort, holding the Brewers to only two runs in five innings, but had no help and was hit with the loss to drop his record to 4-13. The talented rookie right-hander has been outstanding in his two starts since returning from the IL but still has logged a poor 4.94 ERA along with a 1.25 WHIP in 113.2 innings on the year. Greene allowed just one run in 7.1 innings in a tough 1-0 defeat in the only meeting against the Pirates this season.

Cincinnati is stumbling. They avoided a four-game home sweep by the Brewers this past weekend by recording a 2-1 win on Sunday, and have now dropped seven out of their last ten games due to a slumping offense. The Reds are 2-3 in their last five road games.

Kyle Farmer continues to produce, accumulating six RBIs in his last six games. The 3 2-year-old shortstop is having the best season of his career, bashing 13 homers along with 73 RBIs and a .701 OPS. Farmer only has four RBIs and a .527 OPS against the Pirates.

The Reds are scoring an average of 4.13 runs per game, ranking them 22nd overall. The pitching staff has logged a 4.82 team ERA, placing them 28th in the big leagues.
