Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-24-2022

Cincinnati will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss when it faces Philadelphia on Wednesday night. The Reds opened the series with a 4-1 setback before choking away a late lead on Tuesday. Philadelphia has won three of its last four games during a pivotal part of its schedule.

Cincinnati put together a solid stretch after it returned from the All-Star break, winning 10 games in a 16-game stretch. The Reds have lost 10 of their last 14 games, though. They took two out of three in a series against Pittsburgh last weekend before dropping the first two games of this series. Cincinnati held a 3-0 lead in the early stages on Tuesday and also held a 6-5 lead in the ninth inning, but it allowed a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame. The Reds are on a 10-game road trip that will wrap up against Washington this weekend.

They have not been a bad offensive team this season, ranked No. 18 in the majors in batting average (.241). Shortstop Kyle Farmer leads the team with 98 hits. He will be facing a Philadelphia pitching staff that is No. 10 with an ERA of 3.76. Right-handed pitcher Graham Ashcraft was originally going to be on the mound for Cincinnati on Wednesday night, but he was placed on the injured list (biceps) on Tuesday. He will be replaced by right-hander T.J. Zeuch, who was recalled from Triple-A Louisville after being sent down three days prior. He did not look good in his two starts with the Reds earlier this month, going just four innings in both outings while posting a 13.50 ERA and 2.50 WHIP.
