Cincinnati at Arkansas 9/3/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Cincinnati Bearcats and Arkansas Razorbacks face off on Saturday in a Week 1 college football showdown at Razorback Stadium. This is a really good non-conference test for both of these teams.

It’s going to be hard for Cincinnati to follow up on what they did last season. The Bearcats finished with a 13-1 record overall and that included playing in the college football playoff. This team though has lost a ton of talent including their starting quarterback, Desmond Ridder. Luke Fickell hasn’t named a starter yet, and I wouldn’t expect it to happen until the first series of this game. Gone is running back Jerome Ford, and that means bigger roles for Tyler Scott and Tre Tucker. The strength of this Cincinnati team is with the defense and they gave up only 16.9 points per game last year. There is a ton of talent from last year’s team gone, but the defense should still be a strength this team.

On the other side of this matchup is the Arkansas Razorbacks who finished last season with a 9-4 record, and this looks like a team that is about to be very competitive in the SEC. Back for the Razorbacks is quarterback KJ Jefferson and he finished last season throwing for 2.676 yards and 21 touchdowns. On defense Arkansas gave up 22.9 points per game, and considering the SEC teams that they played last season, that is quite impressive. Bumper Pool was the leading tackler last season, and he is going to be leaned on heavily for the defense to find success.
