Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-25-2023

The Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays will take the field on Tuesday at Rogers Centre.

Chicago (7-15 SU and 9-13 RL) is coming off another series loss, this time to Tampa Bay. Losers of nine of their past eleven games, the White Sox hope to rebound behind right-hander Mike Clevinger. The seven-year vet is 2-1 with a 3.26 ERA in his first season with the Southsiders.

Toronto (13-9 SU and 12-10 RL) won two of three games in the Bronx in its latest series. The Blue Jays will turn to right-hander José Berríos tomorrow. The 28-year-old's 2023 season is off to a rough start, with a 1-3 record and 6.23 ERA in four starts.

First pitch is at 7:07 p.m. ET. The Blue Jays are -195 moneyline favorites and the game total is 9.5.

Chicago is already fading in the AL Central race after only 22 games, falling behind Minnesota, Cleveland, and Detroit in the division standings. With upcoming series against Toronto, Tampa Bay, and the Twins, is it now or never for the White Sox?

Chicago averages 4.27 runs per game (19th) and hits .241 (17th) with a .691 OPS (20th). The White Sox have hit 23 home runs (19th) and stolen 15 bases (17th) this season. LF Andrew Benintendi paces the team in batting average (.282) and hits (22), while CF Luis Robert Jr. leads the club in home runs (5).  The Southsiders' pitching staff has compiled a 5.43 ERA (27th) and a 1.54 WHIP (28th) with seven quality starts.

Clevinger takes the mound in game two of Chicago's series in Toronto. The 32-year-old has been a pleasant surprise this year, holding Houston and Baltimore scoreless in two of his starts. He was less effective against Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, however, surrendering a combined seven runs on 14 hits, with only two Ks.
