Chicago White Sox (67-67) vs. Seattle Mariners (76-58)

The Chicago White Sox face off against the Seattle Mariners in the second of a three-game series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, as the 2022 MLB season goes on Tuesday, September 6. Monday’s opener has been excluded from the analysis, while the White Sox outlasted the Mariners 2-1 in a three-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago back in April.

Seattle opens as a -141 moneyline favorite for Tuesday’s battle. The White Sox are listed as +130 road underdogs, and the totals sit at 7.0 runs.

The Chicago White Sox put an end to their four-game winning streak last Sunday, suffering a 5-1 defeat to the Minnesota Twins. The Chi Sox still grabbed their second consecutive series. After outlasting the Kansas City Royals in two of their three encounters at Guaranteed Rate Field, the White Sox outscored the Twins 18-8 in a three-game home set.

The White Sox have struggled at the plate for most of the season. They’ve improved a lot in the last couple of weeks, hitting a strong .279/.349/.423 with 15 home runs and 21 doubles through their previous 456 at-bats. AJ Pollock has homered three times in his last 12 games, while Elvis Andrus has 17 hits and a .832 OPS in his last 54 at-bats.

Johnny Cueto will get the starting call Thursday, and the 36-year-old righty is 7-6 with a nice 2.93 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 19 starts and one relief appearance (129 innings pitched) in 2022. Cueto has one bad start in the second half of the season. He’s registered a 3.00 ERA and 3.70 FIP over his previous seven starts and 48 innings of work.
