Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-27-2022

Two teams that battled for the AL Central Division title before fading late, the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, will do battle in a three-game series in Minnesota. The White Sox struggled for much of the season before making a late run that was too little, too late. The Twins had the division lead for much of the first half of the season before injuries to key players derailed their title hopes. On the mound on Tuesday night will be veteran righty Lance Lynn (7-6, 4.02) of the White Sox taking on fellow righty Bailey Ober (1-3, 3.71) of the Twins. Game time is set for 7:40pm EST.

It has been a tough year for the White Sox as they tried to defend their AL Central Division title. They lost pitcher Lance Lynn for more than half the season, all-star SS Tim Anderson has been out since August and the team lost their manager, Tonya LaRussa, to health concerns earlier in the month. Next year will likely feature a new manager and perhaps several new faces as the White Sox try and regain the form that made them a playoff team in 2021. The White Sox limp into this series with six-straight losses as they look like a team that mercifully wants this season to end.

The White Sox will turn to the veteran Lance Lynn to kick off this series. Lynn's knee issues kept him out for the better part of the season and his mound presence was sorely missed. In his last five starts, he is 4-1 with a 1.67 ERA and averaging over nine strikeouts per nine innings of work. Lynn has struggled in his two starts against the Twins this season with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 9.90. He should benefit in this start from a depleted Twins lineup, however.
