Chicago got the win in the second game of the series Tuesday night to earn their sixth win in nine games but they still have work to do in order to get back in the division chase. Against Kansas City Tuesday, Chicago finished with six hits with no player recording more than one in the contest. Luis Robert Jr. (his eighth) and Andrew Vaughn (his fourth) each homered in the victory for the White Sox. Lucas Giolito (2-2) earned the win on the mound as he threw six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Kendall Graveman worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his first save of the year.
Mike Clevinger is on the mound for the White Sox as he makes his eighth start of the year in this contest. He comes in 2-3 with a 4.84 ERA, a 1.528 WHIP, 16 walks and 33 strikeouts over 35.1 innings of work this season. Clevinger took the loss in his last start, which came Saturday on the road against the Reds. In his last three starts, Clevinger is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, five walks and 18 strikeouts over 16 innings of work. Clevinger hopes to extend his dominance of the Royals in this contest as he makes his 15th career appearance and 14th start against them. He is a sparkling 9-0 with a 1.98 ERA, a 0.992 WHIP, 16 walks and 87 strikeouts over 81.2 innings of work in those outings.
