The Chicago White Sox continue their AL Central Division road swing as they travel to Detroit to take on the Tigers. The White Sox are in fourth place in the AL Central Division while the Tigers sit in third place. Both teams are out of the playoff picture and will likely have some significant roster turnover this offseason. The pitching matchup on Friday will be White Sox righty Mike Clevinger (6-7, 3.90) taking on Tigers' righty Reese Olson (3-6, 4.65). The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST.

The Chicago White Sox appear to be locked into fourth place in the underachieving AL Central Division with three weeks to go in the regular season. The White Sox are over ten games ahead of last-place Kansas City and are just under ten games behind the third-place Tigers. In their three-game series against the Royals in Kansas City, the White Sox lost each of the first two games by scores of 12-1 and 7-6. In the second game, the White Sox blew a 6-3 lead. In the series finale on Wednesday, the White Sox hung on for a 6-4 win thanks to a strong start from Touki Toussaint and a 3-for-4 night from Andrew Vaughn including a home run.

The White Sox will give the ball to righty Mike Clevinger on Friday night. Clevinger was placed on waivers by the White Sox earlier this month but went unclaimed. He is 6-7 on the season in 19 starts including six quality starts. He has allowed 94 hits in 101.2 innings pitched with an ERA of 3.90. He has a K/9 rate of 7.7 and a WHIP of 1.30. On the road this year, Clevinger is 2-4 in nine starts with an ERA of 4.17. In his last five starts, Clevinger is 2-2 with an ERA of 4.34 while allowing 25 hits in 29 innings pitched.
