The Southern Illinois Salukis (7-4) host the Chicago State Cougars (3-9) at 8 p.m. ET on Friday inside Banterra Center. The Salukis are 15.5-point favorites with the total set at 133 points.

Chicago State rides a two-game losing streak into this road contest following a 66-65 heartbreaking defeat against Murray State. This will mark the 13th meeting in the all-time series between the Cougars and Salukis, with CSU trailing 11-1. Chicago State is also one of only two Division I programs playing an independent schedule in the 2022-23 campaign after leaving the Western Athletic Conference last season.

The Cougars opened their home schedule with three-consecutive wins for the second-straight season — something CSU hadn’t done since 2018-19 — but their struggles away from home tell the story of this team through 12 games. Sophomore guard Wesley Cardet Jr. leads the group with 16.2 points, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, while sophomore guard Jahsean Corbett adds 14.4 points and a team-high 8.6 boards per contest. Chicago State is currently averaging 68.3 points per game on 42.5-percent shooting from the field.
