The Chicago Blackhawks face the Montreal Canadiens in a matchup between two rebuilding teams with high upside. The Blackhawks have split their first two games and look like a much-improved team after finishing in last place in the Central Division last season. The Canadiens lost their season-opening game but earned a point in the 6-5 shootout defeat. Both teams are looking to start the season strong and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Blackhawks have looked promising to begin the season but hope the offense bounces back after scoring only one goal in their recent loss despite putting up four on the opening night. Generational talent and number-one overall pick Connor Bedard has a goal and an assist while Jason Dickinson, Ryan Donato, and Nick Foligno have combined for three goals and three assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that defenseman Kevin Korchinski can add a spark from the point as he's one of the young talented defensemen but has yet to make his mark offensively.

The offense has struggled but the defense has stepped up through two games, allowing only 2.50 goals per game. Seth Jones has led the unit with 24:32 ice time and six blocked shots but the rest of the unit has stepped up as well with Kevin Korchinski, Alex Vlasic, and Connor Murphy creating turnovers in the defensive zone and playing gap-sound defense near the net. In addition, goaltender Petr Mrazek has stepped up in the net, saving 38 of the 40 shots he's faced.
