Chicago Bears vs. Seattle Seahawks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-18-2022

The Chicago Bears (6-11, 6-11 ATS, 7-10 O/U) take on the Seattle Seahawks (7-10, 9-8 ATS, 6-11 O/U) in week two preseason action on Friday night. The Bears went 0-3 in last year's preseason and beat the Chiefs last week. The Seahawks posted a 1-2 preseason mark last season and lost a road bout to the Steelers in their first preseason action.

The Chicago Bears are looking for another win after posting a 19-14 victory against the Chiefs in the opener. The franchise is in more of a rebuilding season and is definitely not going to compete for a top spot. They have several younger players including QB Justin Fields. The 23-year-old had a subpar rookie season. His accuracy is an issue and he finished 2021 with a 7:10 TD to INT ratio.

Fortunately, the Bears added veteran Trevor Siemian who has been a starter in this league and will aid in the development of the young QB. Fields connected on 4 of his 7 passes in the preseason opener, while Siemian was outstanding, accumulating 89 passing yards. Bears’ 3rd string QB Nathan Peterman could see extended playing time in this one after limited action last week.

The Bears' #1 RB David Montgomery did not play last week due to injury and it’s unlikely he p lays in this one. Khalil Herbert is the #2 RB on the squad. The 24-year-old had 433 rushing yards in a respectable 2021 season. Chicago has limited depth at WR. Darnell Mooney is the #1 option with Byron Pringle considered the #2. He did not play last week due to a leg injury.

The Bears defense isn’t nearly as sharp as in past years. They no longer have key pieces such as Khalil Mack and linebacker Danny Trevathan. Also, Roquan Smith has requested a trade. Management used their 1st round pick on cornerback Kyler Gordon and they also took safety Jaquan Brisker in the early rounds of the draft.

Last season the Bears averaged 18.3 points per game, ranking them 27th overall. They held opponents to 23.9 points, placing them 22nd in the league.
