The Charlotte 49ers are in the midst of their second losing streak of the season. After opening the season with three-straight losses, the 49ers got a victory to halt the streak. Since that win, however, Charlotte is once again streaking the wrong direction with four straight losses. On Saturday, they fell to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in C-USA action after turning the ball over five times and allowing FIU to score on its first four possessions in a 34-15 loss.

“It was really disappointing to have another performance at home where we didn't play well and couldn't find a way to get the win,” said 49ers head coach Will Healy. “I thought it was important to get on them early, and we did the complete opposite of that. Have to give a lot of credit to Mike McIntyre and his staff for the way they competed. They played very well and forced us into some mistakes.”

Charlotte quarterback Chris Reynolds fi nished the day 23-of-38 for 244 yards with a whopping five interceptions. He was replaced late in the fourth quarter by backup James Foster, who went 2-of-5 for 33 yards and a touchdown pass. The 49ers offense finished with 337 yards of total offense but the five interceptions ultimately did the team in.

On the defensive side of the ball, Charlotte allowed 453 yards of total offense, including 306 through the air. The 49ers held FIU to 5-of-14 on third down conversions and had one interception on the day. Charlotte had five tackles for loss in the game but didn't have any sacks and just one quarterback hit in the game.

After a five-interception day, it still appears that Charlotte will stick with Chris Reynolds at quarterback. Charlotte comes into this matchup with the 86th ranked offense in the country. They have had difficulty running the ball with the 121st ranked rushing attack. The 49ers have been effective through the air with the 28th best passing attack. They are ranked 49th in red zone offensive efficiency. Not surprisingly, especially after the five interceptions thrown, Charlotte is ranked 122nd in turnover differential. Defensively, Charlotte is last in the country in scoring defense. They are 129th against the run and just 114th against the pass on the season. If your team reaches the red zone against Charlotte, feel confident that you'll find the end zone. Charlotte is ranked 129th in defensive red zone efficiency.

Key Injuries: DB Trey Creamer and LB Cam Burden are both questionable for Saturday's contest with undisclosed injuries.
